"Hearing Loss often robs us of many things, not least enjoyment of music, but something can be done about this situation. It is well recognized that perception of the rhythmic aspects of music remains even with a severe/profound hearing loss, and this dance class offers the chance for Cochlear Implant and Hearing Aid users to use this information to "Reclaim the Groove." This is a unique opportunity to explore aspects of your hearing AND have an enjoyable time." - Geoff Plant

Why This Class Is Different

Accessible Instruction: Teachers are trained to use clear visual cues, counts, and accessible communication strategies. Music is specially selected to maximize listening abilities. Participant feedback is highly encouraged in order to adapt sound, volume and listening during class.

Feel the Rhythm: Classes will include experiencing music through vibration, visual rhythm, and movement cues—not just sound.

Community Connection: Dance alongside others who share similar experiences in a supportive, inclusive environment.

All Levels Welcome: No prior dance or musical training required. Dance movements will be modified in real-time for participants who wish to remain seated for all or some of class.

What to Expect: Warm-up and stretching tailored to your body’s needs. Easy-to-follow choreography with a focus on expression, timing, and fun. Opportunities to connect with peers, build confidence, and enjoy the art of movement.

Why Dance? Dance is more than steps—it’s a way to build confidence, balance, coordination, and joy. For those with hearing differences, it’s also a chance to explore rhythm through the body, discover new ways of connecting with music, and share in the universal language of movement. 👉 Join us for a class and experience music and dance in a whole new way.
